Long before I started taking pictures my parents taught me about hiking, biking, camping and skiing. They supported my friends and I as we watched Bear Grylls, and practiced our “survival skills” in the backyard. They took me on road trips all over the country. They fostered in me a life long love for the outdoors. In high school my dad, a photographer himself, gave me some lessons and a hand-me-down Nikon d90 camera; setting me loose to capture the world.

I am not a photographer first and foremost, nor am I an adventurer first and foremost. To me the two are deeply intertwined, and to a large extent motivate each other. I want to capture the places, memories, and emotions of my adventures, and my photography helps motivate me to seek new adventures. For example, starting a hike at 2am to catch the sunrise always feels like a bit more of an adventure than starting the same hike at 10am.

North Bend Washington has always been home for me, and I feel so lucky to have grown up in such an amazing place, so close to so many mountains. Nowadays, I bounce around between North Bend, Seattle, and the back of my truck. I went to college at the University of Washington where I majored in Biology. I do almost all of my adventuring with my amazing girlfriend and tripod holder Hana.
